On December 29th 2007 at St. Peter's Church, Parkstone a very special event will be taking place...

Doors open 7.00pm for 7.30pm start, Oposium along with other musicians from across Poole and Bournemouth will be raising money and the profile of Christian charity Routes To Roots to help the homeless in Poole.

                        COME AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

The evening will include a variety of rock and classical music mixed together in a way which will be so spectacular you won't know quite what has hit you. With the opening welcome to be provided by the Mayor of Poole himself, the evening will include music from indie/rock act The Repercussion, classical virtuosity including the church choir of St. Peter's with the climax of the evening being a set put together by alternative rock band Oposium. And we mean alternative! Oposium will be incorporating the massive church organ of St Peter's into their set with senior organ scholar from Jesus College Cambridge - seriously rock will never see anything like this (and possibly may never again!); this is going to be huge! Intrigued? Well you should be!

Routes To Roots seeks to help homeless people move from an unsettled state, that leads to a lack of self-worth, to a condition that is settled, rooted in one place with a sense of belonging and worthiness that comes with belonging to a community. In the long term, the charity seeks to help provide ‘routes’ into housing and employment, enabling the ‘roots’ to be embedded even further into a solid foundation. Routes To Roots wants to extend it’s already successful drop-in centre that provides warm meals from two evenings a week to provide a service everyday of the week.

The Performers

OPOSIUM are a three piece alternative rock band who specialise in pushing creative boundaries and creating great music at the same time. 2007 has proven to be a hectic year for the band, with Easter seeing them sail their psychadelic blue piano into the sea off Branksome Chine beach in Poole under the guidance of the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Mrs Judy Butt herself. The result was the video for Behind The Rain, the track which won Oposium Roland UKs Unsigned Artist Competition in June. The band then spent the latter part of the summer finalising their five track EP titled 'Life Under The Sun' including the shooting of a new video called 'When Love Steps In'. Fronted by Richard McLester ("Mr Hair"), the band also features piano/organ guru Sam Hanson ("Mr Brain") and our insane drummer who goes only by the alias of The Hottease. Currently working on a new single forthcoming, the band are really up for using their musical talents to help the Routes To Roots cause and in helping the charity raise it's profile and are hoping that many people will catch on and support our vision for this! If you want to hear music from our new cd, go to the main part of this site (link at the bottom of this page) and listen online to 'Life Under The Sun'...

The Repercussion are a four-piece indie/rock band from the beautiful surroundings of Dorset. With Becky Rewse on vocals/piano, Max Baker-Hytch on lead guitar, Dom Read on bass and Dan Cook on drums the band have completed two UK tours this year already, playing in various locations up and down the country. Their mini-album 'Rushing Away' was released at the end of 2005 on Risen Records and the band are currently working on a new forthcoming album due to be recorded over Christmas and Easter of 2008. All members of the band are passionate and excited about making music and their love and enjoyment of music comes across strongly in their performance. The bands music, lyrics and passion are also influenced by their belief in God.

Hello Young Man are a talented four-piece youth band from Corfe Mullen Family Church. With Alex on vocals, Taz on guitar and vocals, Kirsty on piano and Lucy on drums, the band formed two months ago with the aim to play at the Routes To Roots concert. Together they have been working hard preparing and rehearsing before and after helping to run a Christian kids club for children aged between Year 6 and Year 8 from the church in Corfe Mullen every Tuesday evening.

Compère for the evening will be Judith Redgrave, whose past projects have included the photography from Oposium's Piano In The Sea venture. >> See Pictures
